Marussia Driver Jules Bianchi has undergone surgery after suffering a severe head injury in a wreck at the Japanese Grand Prix.

The 25-year-old Bianchi lost control of his car close to where Sauber driver Adrian Sutil had spun and hit the tyre obstacle. As a recovery vehicle was elating Sutil's car, Marussia Driver Jules Bianchi travelled across the run-off area and hit the back of the tractor.

The driver was detached from the car, taken to the circuit medical centre and then by ambulance to hospital. The CT scan shows he has suffered a strict head injury and is undergoing surgery.

It is the most severe accident at a race weekend for Felipe Massa suffered a skull fracture during qualifying for the Hungarian Grand Prix five years ago.
The race was stopped in a moment after Bianchi’s crash.

Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton won the race in front of team-mate Nico Rosberg, he said: "It is visibly a real anti-climax to hear one of our contemporaries is seriously hurt. That is the major worry."

Bianchi is a member of Ferrari’s young driver programmed and tested for the squad that provides engines for Marussia in 2010. The Frenchman joined Marussia in 2013 and scored their first points in Formula One, with a ninth position at the Monaco Grand Prix this year. Ferarri’s team principal, Marco Mattiacci, is seen to have joined Bianchi at the hospital.
