Formula 1 driver Andrea De Cesaris has passed away at the age of 55

The Italian racer was killed in a motorbike accident in Rome, the official F1 website confirmed.
Later on a successful Karting career, Cesaris leaped to prominence in car racing by finishing second to Chico Serra in the 1979 British Formula 3 Championship. 

De Cesaris started 208 races in his Formula 1 career between 1980 and 1994, but not at all won a Grand Prix, a record for the most races without a win. He troop for Britain-based team McLaren for one season in 1981 and also raced for squads including Brabham, Jordan, Alfa Romeo and Dallara.

McLaren tweeted on twitter: "All at McLaren send condolences to ex-McLaren #F1 driver Andrea De Cesaris, who sadly passed away on Sunday." Caesars won world championship levels in nine of the 10 teams he raced for and ended up along the podium five times.

 In 1982, aged 22, he became the newest driver to start a Grand Prix from the forepart of the grid after he got his sole career pole, with Alfa Romeo, at the US West Round.He raced in the Grand Prix Masters series for two seasons in 2005 and 2006 beside veterans, including Nigel Mansell, Ricardo Patrese and Emerson Fittipaldi.
