The mighty Trinidad and Tobago all-rounder, Kieron Pollard, known for his unstable batting was the automatic option to run the Mumbai Indians in the upcoming Champions League T20, starting September 13 in Raipur, in the absence of Rohit Sharma, who recently had a fractured middle finger during the second ODI against England in Cardiff.
Pollard’s victory as the captain having led the Barbados Tridents to title triumph in the recently concluded Caribbean Premier League (CPL) has been really well- treasured. Pollard played a vital role in Mumbai Indians’ triumph, during the 2013 IPL Season by smashing 29 sixes, which enabled Mumbai Indians to finalize their maiden IPL Title. Pollard's career in the Mumbai Indians team spans over almost 96 matches, marking more than 1,700 runs with over 100 sixes, with more than 63 wickets to his recognition. He was also declared the Man of the Match in the 2013 IPL final because of his overall brilliant display.
Chief Mentor for Mumbai Indians, Anil Kumble stated, "We will definitely feel Rohit's absence in the squad and wish him well. Nevertheless, I strongly believe, that you can only be as secure as the chances you get; and I am confident that Kieron with his varied experience and impressive track record, will ascend to the occasion, and align the Mumbai Indians for a competitive performance".
